Praying God's Will

Praying God's Will

Well, the news is out that God has called our family to plant a church in Iowa. Following God is always an adventure, often taking you to places literally and/or figuratively where you never thought you'd go. The "adventure" of following God is not always one that we initially greet with excitement and joy. Sometimes it is with trepidation and tears, a surrender of our will for His. Always, surrendering our will for His is a process that strengthens faith and brings growth, peace and joy, even if it takes time. His will- the will of our good, good Father- is always best.

As we look toward this move (still not knowing an exact timeline), my heart is pulled in many different directions with a burden for the people of MCF who I care for and long to see taken care of in a way that will continue to foster growth, connection and maturity; for my family and the transition that we will go through; and the people we will be ministering to in Lisbon who I don't even know yet, but I trust that God is preparing them. I am praying for all of these people.

With my thoughts and concerns sometimes going all different directions, I am so grateful that I can pray God's word and know that I am praying God's will- for all of these people in different places! When we don't know what to pray, we can always open the Word of God and be assured that we will have guidance in how to pray, even as we are invited to boldly come before the throne of God with our requests.

Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need. Hebrews 4:16

And this is how I am praying today:

And so, from the day we heard, we have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding,  so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him: bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God;"

Colossians 1:9-10
