Happy New Year!
By Cindy Goding
Happy New Year! Each year after Christmas we look forward to the changing of the calendar to another new year. Often we start celebrations on New Year’s Eve where we gather together with friends and family and ring in the new year by watching the famous ball drop in New York’s Times Square.
Many make “New Year’s Resolutions”-a personal goal regarding many different aspects of life. Often corresponding with health, relationships, faith, emotional growth, or financial. Some people chose a word to meditate on throughout the new year like- love, rest, growth, read, exercise.
The new year signifies new beginnings, a fresh start. Many of us were ready to kiss 2020 goodbye, and many are now ready to kick 2021 outta here. But, what if we spent time reflecting back instead? I know, looking back on the past couple years isn’t the most fun… But you know the saying, “Hindsight is 20/20”? What if we use that saying and reflect back on how we now see clearly where God moved with perfect vision and timing?
Yes, looking forward is great and essential to growth and change. Yet, sometimes we forget that looking back holds great lessons and value to growing our character and deepening our faith. Looking back isn’t the easiest, often the past is riddled with pain, regret, or grief. But, when we really take time to look back through the lens of faith, we are able to see that even in those awful trials, God never left us. He shaped us, he refined us, he was behind us, in front of us, beside us, and within us. We realize that God has answered EVERY single prayer that we uttered, often not how we expected, but completely in His will and design. There are so many passages in the bible where we are encouraged to gather and share, exclaim, shout, to testify what the Lord has done. To proclaim with complete assurance of his goodness and guidance in our lives.
I encourage you to take some time this New Year’s Eve to sit and look back and intentionally take note of where you experienced God moving. Then, I ask you to SHARE with one another! I always find myself getting excited when I hear from someone where they are seeing God moving and growing them. Let’s do this more! We are called to share how God is working, it strengthens the tired and weary, and encourages each other to stay in the good fight! Sharing reminds us that we are not in this battle alone. We have brothers and sisters in Christ who are right alongside us.
Women of Meadows, COME AND HEAR what the Lord has done! We have another Story Night January 14th at 7:00-8:00pm. If you are feeling called to share with others the goodness of how God has moved in your life, please contact me (Cindy Goding).
“Oh give thanks to the Lord, call upon his name; make his deeds known among the peoples! Sing to him, sing praises to him; tell of all his wondrous works! Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice! Seek the Lord and his strength; seek his presence continually! Remember the wondrous works that he has done, his miracles dn the judgments he uttered”
1 Chronicles 16:8-12
