Preparing for Worship - November 27, 2022

I will hope continually

and will praise you yet more and more.

Psalm 71:14

This week brings the first Sunday of the Advent season! This marks the beginning of our countdown to Christmas as we focus on the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ. Each Sunday of Advent has a traditional theme, and this week it is the theme of Hope. So the words of Psalm 71 are an appropriate Call to Worship as we express the hope that we have in the Lord and respond in song with Our God Saves. Then, Sharon and Britt Rickerson will point us to the hope we have in Christ as they light the candle of Hope on our Advent wreath. We’ll respond together singing O Come O Come Emmanuel and Come Thou Long Expected Jesus

After a prayer for our Giving and a few Announcements, we’ll have a special Kids’ Time and some activity bags for all of our young worshipers. Then, Mark Barnes will kick off our Advent sermon series which we are calling Good News of Great Joy. This series looks at the Christmas story in the gospel of Luke, and Mark will begin this week with a look at the prediction of the birth of John the Baptist in Luke 1:5-25. We’ll continue in worship together as we take Communion, sing Christ Our Hope In Life And Death, and be dismissed with a Benediction.

Do you need prayer? Please let us know how we can be praying for you. You can drop a prayer request card in the giving box in the atrium, or send your prayer requests to: prayer@meadowsfamily.org

Please find a few moments to prepare your heart and mind for gathered worship. Prayerfully engage with the Scripture and songs for this week, dwell on all that you have to be thankful for, and pray that God will build up his church and glorify himself through our worship together. This week’s song playlist can be found on Spotify and YouTube. Everything you need to know about our Sunday worship services can be found on our website at meadowsfamily.org/sundays

See you this Sunday!
