“Now therefore fear the Lord and serve him in sincerity and in faithfulness. Put away the gods that your fathers served beyond the River and in Egypt, and serve the Lord. And if it is evil in your eyes to serve the Lord, choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served in the region beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”

Joshua 24:14-15

Joshua had led the people into the Promised land. They had spread across the land, defeated cities and kings, and allotted portions of the land to all the tribes. Now Joshua’s years were coming to an end. And his main concern was not for any of those things. His focus was the hearts of the people. Joshua’s desire was that the people would not turn away to idols, but that they would commit themselves exclusively to the worship  of the only true God, the LORD who had released them from slavery and brought them into the land of promise.

Every week we gather in worship, we declare a similar commitment. In effect, we are saying, “The Lord has delivered us, and we will serve him and worship him alone!” In our singing, our prayers, and reading and receiving God’s Word, we put a stake in the ground and make this same declaration. As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.

This week we also want to wish a Happy Father’s Day to all of our dads! For our families with youngsters we have childcare available throughout the service for ages 3 and under. We also feature a special Kids’ Time and activity bags during the service for all of our young worshipers. In this week’s message, Pastor Michael Mackens returns to our Kingdom Come series with a sermon from Matthew 26:57-75.

We hope you’ll join us in worship this week! You can prepare for gathered worship by finding a few moments to simply engage with the Scripture and songs for this week. Ask God to use our time together to draw you closer to Him, to build up His church, and to glorify Himself. This week’s song playlist can be found on Spotify and YouTube. Everything you need to know about our Sunday worship services can be found on our website.

See you this Sunday!
