Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.

Hebrews 12:1-2

I feel like these verses in Hebrews are a wonderful snapshot of the gathered worship of the church. We come together each Sunday looking to Jesus. We look to him to unburden us of the weight we’ve carried through the week. We look to him to wipe away the sin that has been clinging to us. We look to him to give us the strength to endure the struggles we face. We look to Jesus, the one who endured the cross for us and the one who is exalted in heaven advocating for us. Together, week after week, for our good and for our joy, we look to Jesus in our worship.

We look to Jesus as we sing, read Scripture, and pray together. Jesus Christ is at the center of all that we do in our worship. For our families with youngsters we have childcare available throughout the service for ages 3 and under. We also feature a special Kids’ Time and activity bags during the service for all young worshipers. And this week is particularly special as our Kids will be introduced to our new NextGen Pastor candidate Shema Innocent! (There will also be opportunities for all of us to engage with Shema after the service during the KLB hour ahead of the membership vote at noon.) And in this week’s sermon, Pastor Michael Mackens continues our Kingdom Come sermon series with a message from Matthew 27:1-10.

We hope you’ll join us in worship this week! You can prepare for gathered worship by finding a few moments to simply engage with the Scripture and songs for this week. Ask God to use our time together to draw you closer to Him, to build up His church, and to glorify Himself. This week’s song playlist can be found on Spotify and YouTube. Everything you need to know about our Sunday worship services can be found on our website.

See you this Sunday!
